Noisy Matcha is a separate business: not part of Volume Hotel and not a hotel service. Orders and payment go directly to them.
What it is
Noisy Matcha's tagline is "Where matcha gets loud!", and the mascot is a frog named Nozy. There are two of them: Noisy Matcha 1.0 on Jl. Soka, and Noisy Matcha 2.0 at Jl. Dr. Djunjunan No.153, the one you want if you are staying at Volume.
The building
Noisy Matcha 2.0 was designed by Studio ASA. Their brief to themselves: an object that has landed somewhere between a matcha bar, a waiting room and a spaceship pad. Inside it is kept plain, then interrupted on purpose: a giant Nozy on the facade, a green curved bar under one big round light.
What to order
They use their own ceremonial-grade matcha powder. The drink to ask about is Butter on the Shore: vanilla butter with a hint of nori. If that sounds odd, that is the point. Our own favourites: the Noisy Gogumatcha, or their original Noisy Matcha.
For hotel guests
Open Monday to Sunday, 9 in the morning to 9 at night, at the same address as the hotel. The second drink of the day, or the first if matcha is your thing.
